I was reading some orf Richard's books and he talks about charactrers and particularly one called 'Mr.Social' - who is extroverted, fun and talks alot essentially - and how a lot of guys find it hard to be that - and anyway, it sounds almost exactly sounds like what I'm trying to achieve - 'Mr.Social'
I get very quiet around groups, even of people I know, miss cues, can't think of interesting or spontaneous things to say and basically just end up being a little quiet. Too quiet. I often got told off when I was younger for being too quiet and told to 'come out my shell' a lot, speak up. I really want to learn to loosen up, be louder
So basically I'd really like to learn this. His advice is
1. act it infront of a mirror (not sure how this is going to work)
2. watch films of how it works (okay I guess)
3. join toast-masters / TEFL teaching course etc (cant arrange that in immediate future)
4. do a one-word impro game with someone (dont know who i'd find to do this + bit embarassing?)
has anyone had success or know of techniquies for developing this kind of thing 'infront of the mirror' as he says? Or indeed know any better advice / articles. I'm not sure quite what he means by it or how to use it.
