Whenever I have tried to approach hipster girls (who I generally find to be the most attractive and plentiful in my area) it is tough to get an opener since most of them are typing on their macbook pro, reading a book at a coffee shop or at a show with friends.

I feel like these type of women are more "resistant" to typical techniques. Any targeted techniques here could certainly help and would be appreciated.

Show them that you have swag dunno man, worse advise ever!
Get "normal" girls.

Well, you just said everything you need.

They are reading a book... say something witty about it.
They are listening some music, ask if they know "insert some indie band name here that has a similar sound to the one she's listening".

Just the other day one was in the metro reading Dune. She was not very pretty nor very ugly, just average, but I talked about the book cause I like it. Man, we had a great conversation... it was as easy has that.

For me it's one of the easiest pick ups, you just need to have an interesting talk and they will want to keep in contact and you can carry on from there.

Just make sure you come off a loser then she'll want you because you're not cool yet. Lol
