This is my first post so I thought I'd give you a story/event that happened to me a while a while ago to analyze for me. One night me and my friend were coming home for a concert and stopped off at the local pub for a drink. From what I recall I was unshaven, somewhat drunk and probably not wearing the sharpest clothes (jeans and a hooded jumper) also I'm probably not much of a looker either.

Anyway, me and a friend were having a drink and then I went to the bathroom and then ran into a girl I knew and had a quick chat. When I returned to my table where my friend was sitting I noticed that the table that was sitting in front of us ( which was three girls and two guys) was now turn around and was talking to my friend I made conversation with the two guys about music and so forth and chatted on off with the three girls but mainly with just two of them. After about half an hour of talking with them in my friend discussed going home as we were both tired and I had sobered up and was getting pretty worn out.

I started to get my belongings together when I realized that my friend was making chitchat with one of the girls trying to pick her up. By this time I was pretty tired and had no worries about being a little bit rude in front of these people that I did not know. I started to make ‘blah blah blah’ faces at my friend and some other various silly actions. It was then that one of the girls (the one that I didn't talk too much, who was kinda cute) found what I was doing funny and was smiling at me. She then came around to my side the table and asked me for my phone number, which I gave to her with a very nonchalant attitude as I was tired and wanted to go home. As soon as she went and sat down she immediately sent me a text message saying ‘hi’ and continued to smile at me. I thought I'd be polite and send a message back saying ‘hey’. She came around to my saw the table making chitchat and was holding my hand to which I then thought “damn I'm in with a good chance”

A few minutes later my friend announced that we're going home, and I made some lame excuse in front of everyone like “I might hang around and have another drink” my friend left and i was sitting there with this girl and her friends. We still have the eye contact and the smiling thing going about over 20 or so minutes ago it got more awkward with a group of people around. She came up to me and whispered “I'm just going to hang out with my friends tonight, I'll give you a call soon” I made some lame call like “ boy it's late, I'm tired. I'll see you all around” to the group of people and left. The next day I awoke with a mighty hangover and never heard from the girl again


I'm interested in this forum's opinion of
- why was this girl all of a sudden attracted to some average dude who is being a smart arse?

- at what point do you think did I ruin my chances? was it when I decided to hang around with us thus displaying a compromising wuss who is being a nonchalant smart arse before?

Any other comments and theories would be appreciated too.

maybe she was disarming the obstacle, (FAKE IOIs) you wanted to go home so you were trying to hurry your mate, so the other girl had to keep you occupied for a while?

about ruining your chances.. well, you ditched your mate which is a DLV and if a girl can change your mind from wanting to go home, to wanting to ditch your friend Without even having to mke conversation, then yeah that would make you a afc.

what she whispered was a hint to leave and as for the "give you a call soon" thats one of the worst things to hear from a girl it means shes going to flake you 95% of the time.

and then "see you all around" indicates "we may bump into each other, but we both know we probably wont " which shows insecurity and doubt. Rather then you could of said "8) looking forward to meeting you again (girl), cheers guys nice meeting you )"

arghgh, the harsh reality. hahaha
