Late January I asked a HB I work with to have dinner which was on a wednesday. The conversation was solid and I left the night on a high note. The following friday I receive an IM from her, "Are you busy this weekend?" After working out the logistics we set a date for Saturday. Unfortunately I suggest a movie and dinner (I know, a big mistake), regardless she seemed to be interested. At the end of the night I start to move in for a kiss, at which time I notice a smile growing on her face (strong IOI). We embrace, I slowly start to kiss her, then I gradually moved into french kissing which she responded to positively. After a nice session I stop and say, "It's late, you should get home."

The following friday I briefly speak to her at a work party and leave early. Sunday she returns my call and informs me that she didn't know I left the party and was looking for me, (another IOI).

The following week I ask her to dinner again but she replies, "I have to take a raincheck."

I see her at another work party function and she's not that responsive.
I ask her out one more time and she give's the baby shower excuse.

I decided that's it, she's not interested, two rejections and I'm done.
I don't call her or spend any length of time talking to her at work. Yes, I'll smile and speak to her briefly but nothing real substantive. I act as if it doesn't bug me but it does. I'm very much an AFC.

Now I don't have any illusions that we'll go out again but she does IM me occasionally out of the blue and I've been very aloof so maybe there's a shred of hope. I fucking hate hope when it comes to women and rejection.

What do you think?

Interesting. THere seems to be something missing here. In other words you may have left out some important details. But as far as I can see here are some of your big mistakes. You don't want to kiss her that heavily(ie french kiss)and then tell her to leave. If you are going to do something like that however at least tell her when you want to see her next so you can pick up where you left off. You want to leave her wanting more. It's true you want to be somewhat of a challenge and mystery but at this stage of the game you also don't want to come across like you are rejecting her. Leaving her wanting more is good but don't take it too far. Did you take it too far? It's hard to say. Here's another thing to consider. You seemed to have waited to long to see her in between dates or meetings. You as a man need to initiate contact, even if just briefly, just to stay in touch. Remember women want men who lead and do pretty much all the work. It's not fair but that's the way it is.

At this point it seems like she has pretty much LJBF'ed you. If you are interested in seeing her again romantically there's not much you can do at this point. The only thing I would suggest is to look for other women. More importantly make sure that she sees you interacting and having fun with other women. That will make her feel like she made a bad decision in giving you the cold shoulder when she sees that you have moved on. The poor girl.

I think you hate hope, so you may as well kill it.

Either tell her to level with you or give up on her, even if there was hope.

Please note, I'm not saying "be afc", but think up something that says to her, you're not going to waste your time on her if she's going to keep blowing you off.

I agree with the rest of the guys, you can't cut it off cold like that. You lost your momentum, but not all is lost.
It's never too late, and that's what I live by.

But than again, I do have three restraining orders, so go figure.
