For example:
I called a girl fat by mistake, i told her that she was with her belly on her plate, she told me back:

I said:
- No... ok you got me, i'm calling you fat! (killing pause) No... I'm not, you have a magnificent body, don't worry about it!

I like to use the line "Are you saying I'm smooth?" and say it with a shit eating grin on my face. Usually gets me a punch in the arm but that's a good thing

I'd agree overall, but when I go out with girls I tend to be really sarcastic in a cynical kind of way, and it works pretty well too.

I was wondering why would that not be a favorite here. My natural reaction to her saying that would be the same way you go about it: Defending myself sarcastically. Reading this topic opened my eyes to the 'agree and amplify' notion but why wouldnt the sarcastic defense be suitable, if at all ?

If it is said in a way to defend yourself and you are reacting to her to shit tests, then you fail. When you agree and amplify you are definitely being sarcastic, but the main point here is you are challenging her when you exaggerate things. As me and you know, girls react more to guys who challenge them from time to time, rather than guys who try to suck up for the shit she has to say.
