I get the feeling after reading and watching things about PUA, that a lot of it might be culture specific. In the U.S people tend to be more relaxed in say a bar or a club setting, allowing approaches far easier. But in the UK, these environment are a lot more tense. There is usually a lot of testosterone floating about and everyone is on their guard - women from men, and men from other men. Im sure every british man here has had that feeling in a club where you darent look at someone else you'd get bottled!

In our culture, people are extremely wary of outsiders. So approaching a mixed set feels far harder, because our men are more inclined to defend their women even if not romantically attached to them.

Also women in our clubs also seem a lot more cynical and I always feel that even indirect openers will get a bad reception.

So maybe i'm not practiced enough, but if anyone has any advice on gaming in the UK (primarily night), please share with me!

It's the same everywhere mate. I've gamed in 20 countries and come to the conclusion that it only seems different in other places because you're the foreigner there and you get slack cut you.

Ok, a few things to mention here.

The guy male friends who are protective of the women are already in the friendzone, not you. So that could be a positive. Mixed sets do work, I opened two diferent ones friday night, it worked and the girl homed in on me, sure the looks on the blokes faces was'nt happy but hey, I was only using the girl for preselection anyway so I was'nt realy a threat.

Indirect openers do work in british clubs, nearly every one in an club would like to have their opinion asked, mainly because british clubs are so dahm boring and uptight. Use the talking over your shoulder trick.

I know what you mean with the language/culture difference between America and the U.K, so just translate/recalibrate it to U.K english culture, still meaning the same thing just in a british way. Cocky/funny is cocky/funny so just recalibrate/translate it.

O.K, violence. people do have big tear ups in U.K clubs more commonly than in america but that is because we dont carry guns. The friday/saturday night specials (small pistols. ) that folk used to or still do carry in America do stop a lot of fights kicking off in the first place, as no one wants to get shot. our big viking drinking culture does'nt help either.

Still, only the pissed up meatheads, chavs, sociopaths realy start these fights over here and although there is a lot of them if you remain sober enough not to engage and be unresponsive to them, not only will you not get into any agro, you will also show DHV to your sets.

Drink an alcoholic free beer or a shandy if you dont want to be seen drinking a soft drink or a spritzer.

Dont even go to realy rough clubs that are notorious for fighting anyway, what are you going to find there apart from the next cast of Jeramy Kyle/Jerry Springer?

U.K women may seem more cynical but open and game them the right way and they will enjoy it.
