That's the weird part, it was the shy one (target) standing up for herself to her obnoxious friend. Does that mean that the obstacle was competing for my attention (maybe) or more likely being a bitch as a shit test to see how I would deal with it ( more likely) . Anyway, she came to my rescue and we laughed together at her friend's expense instead of my embarrassment. That's what I meant about a possible IOI.

I would also like to add that although I am new to the forums, (and everything else about this) I immediately have a better understanding of the basic need for accurate terminology to help describe situations concisely after writing this post.
