When people talk about indirect and direct, it is talked about as two very different approaches, but when you think about it, it seems to be the same.

Indirect - you are making out that you are not that bothered/interested leading her to believe that you hold a higher value than her.

Direct - you go in with the view that you are going to ask very confidently to take it to the next level as if to say 'I deserve you and I have no doubts about it'

Its like the common theme here is 'higher value'. Or is it?...

There are so many tactics/techniques/tips talked about when speaking to a girl, but would anyone agree that the most important thing (above sexual, comfort, fun or anything) is just to demonstrate your value is higher than hers? If not, what is the one most important thing you want to convey to any girl you are speaking to?

You pretty much summed it all up accurately. Direct vs indirect boils down to the circumstances. For example, you'll use direct game on a girl buying Froot Loops at the grocery store because there isn't any time to beat around the bush. Indirect is better for when you know she'll be around for awhile, like when you're at a party.

In my opinion, it's not so much about showing you have a higher value than her, but instead showing you have a higher value than other guys. Stand out from the rest and she'll probably take an interest in you.
