| So I've got a problem. Whenever I go out, or plan on going out, I set goals that are way out of my comfort zone. I push too hard, come off too strained and end up falling on my face, then go home and jerk off depressed.
In my desperation, I sat down and worked out a system for setting goals for fun. Besides being exceptionally dorky and simplistic, I think this system can help in identifying goals that ride the thin line between achieveable and challenging.
I am definitely not a natural. That's what attracted me to Mystery and Style. Because they have a system for something a lot of people just take for granted.
On that note, here's my dorky little system with an example and explanation to follow:
1. Set a new goal (NG)
2. Are the parameters clear (PA)?
- If yes, continue.
- If no, goto 1
3. Is failure impossible (FI)?
- If yes, continue
- If no, goto 1
4. Is it an intriguing goal (IG)?
- If yes, continue
- If no, goto 1
5. Execute
The important thing in my eyes is to set a goal that's comfortable but also something that'll draw me out of my introverted shell. Another way to ask question 3 is, "Is success in my control?" but my big head thinks moving the sun is within my control and everything else is YOUR fault. lol
So here's my example. This takes some time so only proceed if you find it useful. Keep in mind, I'm taking baby steps here:
1. Set a new goal
NG: Go out
2. Are parameters clear (PA)?
No. Going out could mean just walking out the front door. That's not enough.
- Goto 1
NG: Go out and meet someone
PA: They're clear enough
3. Is failure impossible (FI)?
No. What if I go out and no one is out. Or I don't find the right opportunity.
- Goto 1
NG: Go out and look for interesting people.
PA: Yes. It's clear what I plan to do.
FI: Yes. These are both things I can absolutely do.
4. Is it an intriguing goal?
No. That's what I've always done and it's given me lame results. No motivation to continue doing that.
- Goto 1
(I'm cutting this short. It took a lot longer originally than I'm showing here.)
NG: Go out and only open sets that I think are interesting .
PA: Yes. It's clear what I'm supposed to do.
FI: No. There is a possiblity of failure. There could be situations where I'm not in the right position to open the set, or it'd be awkward to open.
- Goto 1
NG: Go out and only open sets that I think are interesting and approachable.
PA: Yes. It's very clear what I plan on doing.
FI: Yes. I can't fail. I know how to open. I know who I think is interesting and, if they're approachable, I'll have the opportunity.
IG: Yes. It's intriguing enough to motivate me.
Execute (X)
Great success!
Notice that in this particular goal, I'm being selective about who I approach, i.e. I'm qualifying even before I open. She can't just be hot, she's got to appear interesting too. The discerning male.
A final note: This process is purely designed for "Setting goals for fun". It's not designed to, say, get you through medical school. However, if your sphincter is wound too tight to relax naturally (e.g. HBhitman's), this might be some help. I'd be interested to hear feedback from anyone.
