I'm travelling to London in the new year and hoping to try a bit of 'hostel game'. Apparantly in some hostels it's amazingly straightforward to hook up with other travellers, as per this article:

I'd be sensible and get my own room in anticipation of success.

Has anyone tried hostel game before? If so, what are the best tactics?

Also: If anyone has travelled to a hostel in London, let me know what it's like?
