OK! Fuck it! I'm going to the bar.

I'm 47 years old, just got out of a really long term relationship, and have no idea anymore how to do this.

Can anyone give me some beginner tips?

What should I shoot for? How young is too young?

I've heard that half your age plus seven is the lowest you can go.

By the way, people tell me all the time I look ten years younger. Does that count?

Am I too old to be on here?

Hey D,

First of all i'd change that user id, it says a lot about how you see yourself i think.

No you're not too old. :P

The age difference is really up to each individual. I'm 37 (broke up with my ex 1 year ago after almost 20 years together) and i've played with women 21,24, 25, 27, 28 and 35. I don't think twice about opening sets of <20's or >40's. Each demographic has unique challenges which is what makes this stuff so much fun. I too look a lot younger, most ppl check me in at 28 +/- 2 years.

My advice for starting out (i'm only 2 months into the PUA community) is get your life sorted, health, goals, work, kids, that's more important and will give you some perspective about life in general. I've taken a back seat professionally so I can spend more time with my 2 young children and complete 2 major professional qualifications over the next 2 years. Money is tight, but I have goals, direction and most importantly balance. If you overlook these fundamentals, it will come accross in your personality. If you have issues with the ex, I do, then you need to seek guidance on how to manage that so that it's not the first thing on your mind when you meet new people.

Only when you are comfortable and happy with you as a person, will you make progress.

If you haven't read The Game, do it. Also I highly recommend Rules of the game (it's a 30 day challenge to improve your self confidence and help you establish your pickup game).

After reading these books, practice. Have fun don't put too much perssure on yourself. I've discovered that the girls that have come into my life, did so when I least expected it and all of them before I read these 2 books.

After reading the books, I noticed how everyone around me has noticed a massive shift in my happiness and positivity. The strange thing here is that I'm still me, I just see myself and life in a way more positive light. I have also noticed more women at work being extra friendly, hair twirling even the odd bit of kino from them. All from reading two little books AND APPLYING THE TECHNIQUES. So for me this has been to act more playfull with everyone and be more random (say and do things most others won't).

Also, i'm less concerned with getting laid now, and just enjoy socialising. This is something that Neil Strauss emphasises - Always have something better to do than pick up women! About a month ago I realised that I don't want to be in a relationship, but because I hadn't been single since I was 17, I thought that I was missing out on something. I'm not! Now I realise that if I was to settle into a new relationship, i'd be missing out on so much more. Putting it simply i'd miss out on learning about myself.

Cheers

Mixar
