Hey guys, a couple of weeks ago I went to a Halloween party and took some pictures. The club promoter (party host, whatever you call him) saw my pictures on my facebook page and asked me to photograph for his next event this Friday. On his Halloween party, I knew about 7-8 people so it was no problem for me. I would talk to people I didn't know then go back to my group then on to the next group. It was easy to chit chat since it was halloween. I got a couple of numbers also and was proud of myself since that was my first time sarging. Blew all the phone numbers away since my phone/text game still sucks.

This time, I'm going by myself and feel really anxious about it. I mean I know some of them since I met them at the Halloween party but I only met them once. That would be fine but also the fact that about 75-90% of the people going to this up coming party looks like they know each other pretty well. I feel like i'm going to be the odd man out.

Has anyone ever been in this situation? I just want to know how to get over it since i've never been this anxious before. I've never went to a party all by myself. Any topics or opener suggestions would be awesome. This event looks like it's going to have artists performing their talents then DJ's playing music.

Thanks.

You have a camera! Just walk up to random people and tell them you're taking pictures for the host. Take pictures and open that way. Then start chatting people up. Don't focus on pretty girls, but approach whomever you see fit. Either way, I'm assuming it's a job. So you want to get work done. Besides, everyone will probably be drinking. Just think of yourself as James Bond trying to find ways to talk to people.

If anything ever comes under question and you don't have a camera, lie. You know the host, you're the son of the owner of the place, you know Mike, you write for New York Times and you're working on an article about the place, you're doing a study about people in clubs. Whatever.

Having a camera around your neck is a great tool/prop for socializing and picking up women. Your open is "Let me take your picture." Your routine is talking about photography. Your close is, "Let me get your number or facebook and I'll give you a link to the pictures." Boom, you're golden.
