Alright, so yesterday I hung out with this girl that I've had my eye on for a while who's also the best friend of this girl that my friend is talking to. She's in my computer science class and we had an exam today, so yesterday I asked if she wanted to study together because she seemed really frazzled about it.

So we made plans to meet at Starbucks later at 8:00 that night. I showed up a little late and saw she was already there. I walked over, said hi with a big ol' friendly grin, and we got up to get drinks. I started teasing her about being a Starbucks junkie and told her to go for the Very Berry Hibiscus (ick) when she couldn't make up her mind (She almost got it until they told her it tasted like cough syrup). Afterwards, we began studying, but since it was computer science and an open book/open note test, there really wasn't much we could study.

We basically shot the shit for an hour, I worked in DHV through a few stories and made her laugh really hard more than a few times. She was flirting back and seemed genuinely interested in me. After around an hour, we were both getting restless, so I made sure to be the one to leave first. I told her I was walking her back to her dorm and we set off.

Once we got close, I made a bet with her that if I got a higher grade on the test that we were studying for, then she had to buy me another drink from Starbucks. She laughed and said that she liked that bet. We got close to her dorm and she walked off and said goodbye at the same time, so I couldn't even hug her goodbye, which I thought was strange.

Nonetheless, it definitely felt like progress was being made and I'm happy about how the night went.

But where does it go from here? I'm thinking of just waiting until we get our grades back and then calling her up for the drink she owes me, but should I wait until then or keep talking with her until then?

Decisions, decisions, decisions...

Sounds like she's interested, you're on good terms and you'll be seeing her again anway... Be cool, and focus on getting the best grade you can in the coming exam irrespective

Since you had a genuinely good time with her, I'd slow play this one. Even if you get a grade worse than hers, change the bet and tell her that means she has to go out to dinner with you instead.

I finally realized why I posted this in the first place.

How can I move on from this point? Something that I learned about her (and teased her for it) is that she's been homeschooled for most of her life, which means she's a little sheltered, so I'm worried that she might misconstrue my signals or just miss them entirely.

What would be a good way to make sure that this second outing doesn't end up with me just gaining a new friend?
