Reconnecting with outer circle friends?

So I'm going back to college next week without my two old housemates who have moved on, I'll now be living alone. I want to make new friends but I'm also wondering if I should reconnect with my outer circle from last year. I met this group of girls through on of my housemates only hung out with them 4-5 times last year...but last year I hadn't broken out of my shell and I was quite boring. How should I go about reconnecting with this group? or should I bother at all? Don't see them around much but I'm friends with them on facebook.

You live alone; perfect. Send them all a Facebook message and have a get-together at your place. Nothing reconnects long-lost friends quite like alcohol.
