This has been really getting on my nerves because i think i failed at this social gathering i went to and became beta.

Basically it was my girlfriend's work party, she has just started this new job and it was at a fancy bar in the city.
Most of the women there were number 9 to 10's and the guys were clearly used to be in an alpha male role in this group setting and were good looking too, not that it matters.

I struck up conversation with one of the guys and one of the girls for a brief period just general chit chat, and i was introduced to everyone else. It was hard to break into any sets or help it lead anywhere. For one i have never been in a situation like this with my girlfriend which i know gives you a sense of higher value already, but this group seemed very tight knit, and being the only guest there i couldn't see a way through it.

In the end i spent most of the time with my girlfriend and had a laugh with her, dancing etc, and ended up building a positive rapport with two of her colleagues when we were walking back. But i couldn't help but get the feeling that i was the beta in that room, as others were noticing i was there but were still keeping their distance. Im not sure how i can dominate in that scenario, as some moments were a bit cringey, as it felt like my experience in social dynamics and MM went out of the window.

lol this is perfectly normal. U subconsciously believed that people on that setting were higher value than you. This messed up your inner game. What you should have done is open a set and start entertaining them. Telling stories, making jokes, playing games and all that fun stuff. Gradually, more people would have gravitated towards your group and you would have become the alpha male. You just need practice in tough settings like these. Good luck
