I am a rookie... and I need guidance.

This is over text, I know texting isn't the best way but just that one thing led to another. I feel like I have no chance here, let me know your thoughts. Note that by this point I asked her out over the phone 2 weeks ago, and she wasn't sure (I think that was my mistake as I caught her at work and without a plan).

So I reignite a conversation Sunday, and was very responsive. She asked me if I will be there for an event at a mutual location next Thursday. I replied possibly but I have work during that time. And also, invited me to something on Monday, but I already had plans on Monday so I couldn't make it.

On Thursday of:
Me: "Guess what? I get to get off work early and come to the __event__...only because you are going to be there"
Her: "That's good to hear, but you should be going there for different reasons."

(Ouch)

Me: "True, I should. But, it is not everyday a smart and cute is a reason for me to go to __event__."

No response, after that. Okay, so I go to the event all confident and stuff, I went there late, she wasn't there.

Me: Got stuck in traffic...looks like I missed you, the food was great however.

(4hrs later)
She: I am going to the one that is next week.

(Faceplam, made a fool of myself)

Me: Haha, good to know. You should present me with an Epic Fail award next week.

Is this a lost cause? Or can I salvage it in person next week? Should I even go next week, or ignore her?

I thought PUA was all about creating miracles? Haha...man where is my wittiness when I need it the most.

I am thinking of going next Thursday, just a late, and see how it goes.
