open and escalate at that point...????

No girl is out of your league man. You are trying to change from an AFC to a PUA and that kind of thinking won't help. Try not to think so much just go for it :)

Now to your question.
If I find a women desireable and attractive(which you clearly do in this situation) i'll approach her regardless if she gave me an AI. But if she does give me an Approach Invite, (AI) I'd more then often approach direct. The AI cuts through so many bullshit, since you know she likes you even before you approach theres no reason you should beat around the bush...
