I'd say Gregory Peck in "To Kill A Mockingbird"

But that doesn't mean he's a pick up artist.

I could be wrong but i have heard that in movies characters like Tom Cruise in "Top Gun" are good examples of Alpha male.

I may be going out on a limb here but i'd say almost any movie were some of the following actors interact with women....

tom cruise
brad pit
george clooney

Probably many more but I plan on watching some of their movies over again and paying attention to thier posture, facial expressions, body language.

hope this helps.

Spies in the movies and TV shows are very Alpha. I'm not talking the guys that sneak around and don't get seen, I'm talking the James Bond types. There's a good show I just started watching called Burn Notice, its got one season out that you can dl the torrent off of most torrent sites. The main character is massively Alpha. Also, like I said, James Bond, watch them all. I personally think Pierce was the best, but Connery and Moore were both very good.

Start watching Big Shots. Of course, they get the gold diggers. But its still a good show so watch it.

They call him Bond, James bond. License to kill and certified alpha male persona.

BTW, if you really want to see what alpha males are like don't look in the male oriented action flicks (although you do get some there). Go to your blockbuster and rent a few chick flicks.
I recommend The Wedding Date terrible movie with absolutely no point whatsoever. But Nick is the perfect Alpha, being very confident, cocky and emotionally invulnerable.
Also are good- Dirty Dancing, Pretty Woman and other Julia Roberts films. I also recommend American Sweethearts with John Cusack and Billy Crystal (When Harry Met Sally) for it's use of humor in building attraction.

BTW, while A Walk to Remember (Shane West) is considered the ultimate of chick flicks, it is the perfect example of AFC behavior and oneitis.

My list of alpha male examples:

James Bond(particularly Daniel Craig)
for obvious reasons

Tyler Durden - Fight Club
By definition, he was the narrator's alternate persona that had every manly trait he wanted to have.

Derek Vinyard(After jail) - American History X
Him coming out transformed and righteous after his jail time was an inspiration for me. I can't cite many 'alpha' mannerisms that he had in the movie but the biggest one that stuck out for me was when he went to the big Nazi party, blew off his racist girlfriend, knocked out his former leader and stood up for himself in front of nearly 100 men and women ready to kick his ass.

Edmond Dantes - The Count of Monte Cristo
There's a lot of metaphorical stuff in this movie as described in David DeAngelo's "Deep Inner Game" program. It's about a man who is betrayed by his best friend and is wrongfully imprisoned. In jail, he meets an elderly former priest who was also wrongfully imprisoned. He shared with him the secret location of great treasures that they would both share if they escaped. The old man passes away but Edmond manages to escape and comes across the treasure. After becoming filthy rich, he assumes a new identity as the Count of Monte Cristo. He devises ways to exact his revenge on the individuals responsible for his incarceration while coming to some realizations himself.

Han Solo
"I love you!"
"I know."

I know the list seems a little arbitrary and silly but that's just me I guess.

You know what character was a alpha male. sergeant Colin Sullivan(matt damon) from The Departed. If you watch how he interacts with women he is very cunning, and amusingly clever.
