Just wanted to make sure that I get one of the pillars of escalation right, namely eye contact. Here's what I do:

WHen approaching a girl I would put a nice, slight smirk on my face to add a bit of mystery and self-confidence. While approachnig and when talking I would lock on my eye contact with her and do not look away when I am talking. Obviously, I would look around a little bit not to stare, perhaps look briefly at other parts of her body but then bring the eyes up again. I would also refrain from over-nodding/blinking.

Does that more or less summarise the correct approach?

Sounds about right.

Another thing I usually do is somethng I picked up from my time in law enforcement: If you have already looked at her parts and want to avoid starring, instead of vaguely looking somewhere else, scan the room behind her. Look to one side, slowly scan the entire room to the other side, look at the girl again, repete, briefly stop like something caught your attention, look at her again...
