So I am 18 yrs old and will be going to college this fall. I have a plan/experiment.
I am going to attempt to become a leader. The alpha/leader of my group of friends.
My experiment will take place over summer where I will attempt different things and gain leadership.

REASON
The reason for this is because I want to have a VERY large social network in college and make a crazy amount of friends. Not simply for popularity but because I honestly love meeting people and making friends. I like making people happy. I get happiness from making people happy and being well liked. This leadership, being "followed" by people, will dramatically increase my social value too.

"Techniques"
Lately I've been trying it out. I planned an event and took charge of what we were doing. At prom I started a 30 person toast and interacted with almost everyone at the party. I've started complimenting/flattering people and rapport building right away, making and meeting a lot of people and it works so well. Complimenting people makes you seem friendly and leaves people with a good impression and feeling of you. Rapport building builds the level of the "friendship" and comfort level.
I've noticed large groups of people need someone to take charge. I'll ask for everyone opinion on what they want to do, or decide something, and tell everyone that's what we are doing and they follow. Its amazing and I am so excited to keep learning how to make friends, become personable, and lead people. The trick is to balance out being a dictator and a push over. I ask for opinions and choose the most popular one, and if no one has a idea, I choose one and go for it.

How does my summer experiment sound?
What do you think of my techniques/general info?

Awesome stuff...I'd very much suggest reading Dale Carnegie's how to win friends and influence people. You are hitting some of the highlights but its a great book with good insight. :)

I will DEF take a look at that. My friend read one of them and is one of the most friendliest, personable persons I have met. He told me he learned a lot from it and I have actually taken a couple observations from him and put them into my own "technique"

It feels amazing to lead people

Great mindset my man! I have met many incoming college freshman that ooze the fitting in mindset. You sound genuinely friendly and I hope your experiment does you wonders.
