Hey man, there are several ways to get around the competition... First of all, don't make it obvious that you are competing against the guy, au contraire, you can depict him to be a "nice guy" when talking to the girl about him, make him seem as sexy as that old knitted sweater you had since elementary school... The trick is never to seem like you are a hater or envious of the guy, but that you are genuinely praising his qualities... "If he had a girlfriend, he would do anything for her" implying that he never had a girlfriend... In the mean time, play like you are not interested in her, make yourself the object of desire, by not pursuing her like the other guy does... Outcome: you = player-ish cool guy, the opponent = wuss-bag AFC...
