I've always been bad at text game, but this is a new low! I need help, and quick! Hopefully before he gets tired of me. The problem is that he doesn't seem to respond to things in the typical way and it throws me off. I'm even starting to wonder if he, himself, is a pua!
So I met Z at a bar and got all of his friends to fall in love with me. I didn't really talk to him much for the first 15 minutes or so of being in his group. Eventually I got his number, but it felt reluctant. He also mentioned how he thought my ex was super attractive and congratulated me (this threw me off a bit). In fact, him saying that kind of undermined my self-esteem because though I broke up with my ex, people always talk about how gorgeous he is and never seem to associate that with my value.
Anyway, I taught Z some sign language and he seemed pretty impressed and said that we should hang out after he finished his exams in two weeks. He's in med school, so he really doesn't have time (I have friends in med school who make pacts to avoid dating until exams finish).
Today (I met him yesterday), I texted him and he takes forever (half an hour to an hour and a half) to respond. I usually match the time for my replies.
What am I doing wrong? I know there's a lot I'm sucking at, but some pointers would be nice!
The conversation
Me: congratulations
Z: Congratulations? For what??
Me: Something silly reminded me of you while I was studying. You made it into my thoughts, congratulations. Ps. 0.02% serious about the congratulations (I realized after I shouldn't have added this, it probably seemed insecure).
Z:Oh lol. Well that's a silly thing to be congratulated for. I didn't even do anything!
Me: Haha, I guess I can be a bit silly sometimes. Do you know the game 2 truths and a lie? (I really thought this would turn out fun, and he didn't ask what reminded me of him - no one has ever not asked!)
Z: Well, I think it probably involves telling someone two truths, and then a lie?

Me: Someone's more clever than I remember

(Should I not be negging this early?) We're adapting it to 2 lies and a truth. Figure out what it was that reminded me of you.
1. I went through my texts from last nigh and saw our conversation.
2. I was doing ASL interpretation and remembered how I taught you a few things.
3. I heard someone say "quality over quanitity" (quality is his nickname, really stupid)
Z: I would say number one, as I always do that.
Me: (I probably should have just agreed because it would make us seem more similar) It was number 2, but all were reasonable guesses. You mentioned exams, what are you studying?
Z: 2 is a little more random. I'm in med, just under two weeks until our exam

ME: Random isn't a bad thing. Med school. I don't envy you at all. Though, I'm sure it will be worth it! Cliche question, but why did you decide to go into medicine. You don't seem like the money hungry type.
Z: Yes, I'd like to be filthy rich. But I also want to do something I feel makes a difference and, and its what I find interesting.
Me: that's a very honest answer. I read a study once that med students are more likely than other students (made up story) to have had imaginary friends as children. Are you part of the statistic? (horrible horrible game).
