So there's this girl I've spoken to a few times, we were at a party together last week and were alone for a bit and seemed to have a good connection.

They next day she starts speaking to me on Facebook and we talk for ages, she compliments me on my eyes etc.

We arrange for her to come to mine to watch movies and hang out.

She always mentions an ex of hers she used to be with and still sometimes see's.

Where do I go from here and how do I handle this girl and the situation until next weekend (when she comes over)

Sounds to me like you are moving yourself into the friends zone bro. You are not controlling the frame. Let me give you an example:

HB: oh, did I tell you about my ex? He is such an ass.
Player: look, lady. I know this is going to be talk about people who give men a bad name. Ill, tell you it's bad luck!
HB: what, really?
Player: yes, and you know what, I am always here to give men a GOOD name (point at yourself when you say the word GOOD). Did I tell you about the time I rescued a guy that had a epileptic attack in the water?
HB: OMG, you what?
Player: DHV.

I hope the upper conversation gives you an idea of how you have to MANAGE the conversation into something that is all about you being cool. INstead of talking about some ex she wants to feel bad about. THE LAST THING YOU NEED IS A GIRL TALKING ABOUT HOW MUCH SHE WAS HURT BY ANOTHER MAN!

Practice your frame, risk a little fight if you have to. Try to order her around, change the subjects into things that make you look cool. ONly listnen to her stories if the stories entertain you and it is about her interesting sides.

I hope this helps man. I had this problem also, but I realize now women WANT to be managed on this.
