I recently watched a video by Gambler describing his night game approach. (search "gambler night game" on youtube to find it, the forum wouldn't let me post a link).



The summary of which is basically: make eye contact with some gesture towards a girl to provoke a reaction. If the reaction is positive, talk to her like you already know her, and work from there.

I tried to do this last night and had little success. I found that I had a hard time ever making eye contact in the first place. I would wait for the girl to look in my direction, and it usually wouldn't happen. And I can't really go tap her on the shoulder, because that defeats the purpose.

Anyone know how to do this effectively?

Keep practicing. That is all.

The gambler technique also contains the part where you get the attention by doing something out-of-the-box.

i was just thinking of that, maybe op can talk to a different girl, do a trick to get the original girl's eye and then break off and talk to her.

Practice!

You're talking about one aspect of the game. Don't compartmentalize. If the eye-contact is there, I'll make my move depending on the vibe I'm feeling - but I don't even think of what KIND of gambit to use - I just go in to "work mode" and it happens naturally. Until you're confident to walk to any set - practice. Until you don't have to think about what to say - practice... and even when you DO get to that level - practice.
