Is talking to a bunch of strangers the only way to get confidence?, or can you work on other aspects of your life, like getting a job and staying busy first, so you get to know yourself on a deeper level and become strong with your values.
I totally feel where you're coming from with that question. "Getting to know myself on a deeper level and becoming strong with my values" is exactly what I've done in recent years and yet you can do that and still be totally ill at ease and unconfident socially. Knowing who you are when you're alone is one thing, but being able to communicate yourself effectively to others, especially people you don't know is another, and requires a specific skill set. I don't think PUA is necessarily the only answer, but I think being socially confident requires specific social skills, in the same way that being an confident as an accountant requires skills in accounting.
