If you are low energy then don't hide it. If you want to smile because you find something pleasing/funny etc then smile. If you are nervously approaching then don't hide or pretend a feeling that is not what you actually are feeling.
Girls have a high intuition when someone is faking or hiding something ... therefore if they can sense that you are comfortable and relax of expressing how you feel at the moment then she will be attractive ^_^.
Therefore smile only when you want to! Don't smile to try to impress the girl ... smile when YOU are impress at something.
I use to smile a lot and even force it or fake it, for I to will consider to have a pimp ass smile ^_^ ... but it hurts my cheek bones when I do ... lol ... therefore I only smile when I approach a girl or when I say something funny(like to literally laugh at my own joke because I find it funny) ... or she said/do something funny.... But, I feel like shit like I just got off work/school and got my soul destroyed ... I would approach on how I feel ... You can approach when you feel sad too, if that's how you literally feel at the moment ... I used the line from Tim form RSD: "Hi, guy's. I'm sad. I need a kiss" .... and surprisingly it worked ^_^.
Sincerely,
Donston

However, it is good to mentally prep yourself and get yourself into an emotional mood where you're happy and smiling more often, because being happy and smiling are very important in your interactions. Girls dont like to talk to glum guys.
