Last night none of my friends were doing anything so I decided to go to a bar by myself. I was tipsy when I got there. As soon as I walked in I made friends with some guys and walked around the bar asking how everyone was doing and then ordered a beer. I came back to the first people that I met and asked where the girls where at, I saw them, I was just sarcastic, but he pointed to a table with 4 girls and one guy.
I went up to the table and said "I need your guys opinion on something, do you like cats or dogs better?" I initiated the conversation but I need to iron out some problems.
1. One girl was not having my presence.
2. One girl was laughing at pretty much everything I said, but she wasn't my target or attractive.
3. I made friends with the guy and we kinda just talked and I left when I ran out of things to say. I just said nice meeting everyone and walked off.

I went asking around the bar and two sets of girls said "no, get away" before I can even ask their opinion on some bullshit.

So I need some advice if I decide to go out again.
What kind of openers should I use that always work?(i want something simple)

What kind of openers should I use that always work?(i want something simple)
If is mix, use opinion, if is all girls, it does not really matter. Pick a method that you find fun and learn it. And no opener will always work. Opinion openers will give you less amount of blow out, but unless your running some good game after that, your just gonna have a conversation and thats about it. If you can close 1 out every 5 set, that is good. Pick up Gurus are probably in the same ratio.

How do I talk to a group of guys and girls?
Engage everyone, build up the guys, and have good energy. In any set you open, all attention is gonna be on you.

How can I isolate my target that's sitting comfortably in a seat behind a table?
You have to run solid game and have a reason to move. Meet you friends, grab a drink, etc...

How do I disarm bitchy friends?
I use my wing for this. But if there is no wing, I just ignore them and talk to my target. Yeah, the bitchy girls are horrible.



One thing I will add, if you have a girl that's hooked in a set, just game her for practice instead of switching targets. Right now, your trying to learn how to run before you can walk. When you game her, just focus 1 on 1 with her, and include her friends in the convo. Once you get this down, which is gonna be a long time, then try to switch targets.

Step by step approach to pick is the best way to learn. Don't try to do everything at once.

Your opener was fine, your mistake is in assuming that any opener will "always work." I promise you, you will never find one. Unless you have preceding social proof and everyone at the bar knows you're rich and famous, you WILL get shafted by multiple sets. The key to becoming a successful PUA is not to AVOID rejection, but to desensitize yourself to it.
You were doing fine, but you can't "run out of things to say." Look for conversational straws you can pull on. Be more laconic if you want to, you don't always have to be constantly DHVing or talking a lot. Just be CONGRUENT with how you feel. You can approach a girl and out of the corner of your eye say "Don't talk to me, I'm heart broken right now." and then play broken man game the entire time and saw only a few words during the entire pickup and still make progress.

And add time constraints to your conversations. "Yah, I have to go in a minute." People are much more open to conversations they know are temporary instead of ones where they think you're trying to ebb yourself into their table permanently.
You're in bad positioning just out of luck, you can wait for them to move or use direct game to get an answer really quickly. The problem with direct game, especially in a bar scenario, is that once you get rejected by a girl, you can't use direct game again on a girl who saw you get rejected because you'll come off as far less genuine and more like a mechanical approacher. And it'll drop your social proof.

You could also stay there, build more attraction / social hook; and then make em move yourself "Hey, let's go ________" Works better if you can work a room, engage in multiple groups, and then have em all get together and reposition yourself by the target.

great advice guys. Any specific openers I can use? I want to seem different than other guys that just approach and ask girls names right away..

It depends on what works well for you, what you think will work for the girls, and what gets you the best results.

I started out back in the day using the generic ones like the jealous friend or some situational opener but these days I try and calibrate the opener to the set.

So, if a girl looks like a 'rock chick' I might use a rock-orientated opinion opener, for example.

Remember to root your opener e.g 'I need your opinion on...because I've been arguing with my friend Becky about it all day and you guys look like experts' for example.

Throw in the false time constraint at the start. Get your body language right. And have a transition from the opener ready and waiting.
