for years now, ive had some kind of social anxiety and shyness. this could prevent me from getting out there more and confronting some fears. i was always a really shy kid growing up and just recently ive been doing some soul searching trying to fiure everything out. of course there are alternative forms of therapy, but i believe that pick up is something like the piano, you learn the rules then to perfect your skill, you throw the rules out the window. to some extent i feel like im familiar with the rules as i have had succesfull interactions. i am considering hypnotherapy inorder to deal with the social anxiety and shyness. i was wondering if anyone on the forum has experienced this/ any thoughts?

I don't think you need any kind of therapy or anything like that. A lot of people have this anxiety and shyness. I was shy as hell for several years, but honestly, just being on these forums and reading so many books gave me the confidence and mental capacity to stop giving a fuck. A lot of people on here will tell you that reading is a waste of time and you need to get out there and start talking to women, but I disagree. It's insane how helpful just reading for an hour every night can be.

And you're completely right: you need to learn the basics, read everything you can find, then throw out all the "rules" that you don't like. Everyone has their own theories and techniques, and what works for one person will absolutely not work for the other. Start slow - time is on your side unless you plan on dying anytime soon. Don't rush yourself, but make sure you push yourself each and every day to make a little bit of progress, even if it's all internal.

thanks for that, it makes perfect sense what your saying, and i tihnk ive started making internal progress. but ive been talking to some of my psychology profs. and they say i have what is called "depressive thoughts". its not depression, but just a mental state of negativity. straight up, its not healthy for a social environment, so when i say i want to live right and forget about it, i mean FORGET ABOUT IT lol . above are some links that also, (somehow) perfectly describe what im feeling.

PM me a few good books, ive been looking for a good read
Thanks

Can you be more specific?
