I got a half japanese half chinese gf, but she has lived since she was very young in China. Once in a while she throws shit tests in the form of "traditional culture" that almost make me want to explode for how stupid they are.


Anyways, how to handle them?

This one just happened a few minutes ago, I haven't answered:

I joked about she has to make a lot of money, so I will think about marrying her and all that crap.
Her answer destroying all the mood "Don't make this kind of jokes. chinee tradition think that if a man is worse(less social value i guess) than a woman he will have "no face"(he will be an embarrasment).


Any takes for this situation and future ones?

you can not avoid those kind of thing even if you are not dating a half. for me its okay if she say those kind of thing cause you see most chinese family doesn't want to marry their son or daughter to other unrelated family most specially other race and since she is with you it is ok. its all words and not action.
