Ok, this time I encountered a conundrum which needs maybe some "beta" perspectives.

After 4 relationships in one year, an old friend contacted me to date. We always had a strong chemistry, we teased each other a lot. We never friendzoned each other, we never took the opportunity because we had other people in our lives. She always showed a high level of confidence, she's very streetwise.

So we had some sextalk before the date, and normally my "tricks" work like a charm when I know the chemistry is there. But at the last date, she suddenly pulled the "let's have some serious conversations about life". She was very nervous and showed a great deal of vulnerability. This took me completely by surprise. I tried to flirt a small bit, but she clearly was not in the zone like last times. She had a great time, but she was not coherent with our sextalk or former dates with physical escalation etc. I did nothing unusual, but I did not participate enough in talking about her serious conversation topics. Normally we both expected to end up in bed, but now it just had an "open ending". There was no opportunity to turn the vibe around, tried it several times.

What did I have to do? Playing the sensitive guy? Or was I right to play it somewhat cool? Do I have to say something about this at the next date? Really confusing, this one never happened to me.
