I love Richard Dawkins, he's fucking brilliant. A lot of the PU community has him to thank for his work in evolutionary theory. He's sometimes referred to as Darwin's Rottweiler.

Go read his book The Selfish Gene. It goes into depth explaining how we are genetically wired to give advantage to those similar to our likeness.
