is pick up a commonly known term?

Today I was talking to this girl (not attractive, dont even know her name) and I used the term pick up artist and she didnt know what it means. isnt this a known term amongst americans?

Apparently not, but of course the less that know about it the easier it is for us. I'm a bit confused about this too. I sometimes see guys who are natural at game who I think must be coming to this forum or some other PUA forum. I'll even be able to name some of the techniques they just did such as "Throw and Go" but when I talk to them about it, they don't know what "Throw and Go" is or even what PUA stands for.

Yeah it's a pretty well known term, and growing in popularity. Pick up itself has been around much longer than the community though.

"Picking up chicks" is common, but saying "pickup artist" just sounds strange to most people.

I keep pua out of my public vocabulary. My roommate and my dad are the only ones who know about the community or pickup.

haha you are a funny guy. you are right. I think the reason is because I think that she knows that I am trying to pua. I guess I am being too self-aware and thinking that she knows what's going on in my head.
