Okay, I'm not really afraid to ask for the girl's number because she might have a BF, but eventually I figure one girl will say she's already seeing someone and I want to be prepared. How should I respond? How would you respond? Preferably a short one-liner that lets me exit in style.

UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCE should you ever bash the bf because that will have serious backlash.

Some clever ones to be sure. Not to be ungrateful, but what's a good all-around non-dickish response -- that is, something I could say to a women in a non-bar setting, like at a coffee shop or mall, where the game isn't on.

I want a cool response that doesn't convey jealousy and lets me exit in style.

For some reason this works every time I use it "It's OK I wouln't hold it (or that) against you" and then I move on and away from BF, never talking about it again - I don't even understand what it means and I stole it from some other PUA but understanding it doesn't really matter if it works XD
It's also nice because your not vocalizing about the bf, so if she doesn't have one she'll forget about it in 2 seconds; if she does have one she'll forget about it
