I just started learning about pickup techniques recently, and 2 sets without a wingman are a little confusing to me. I need to know how to number close without alienating the obstacle. Is it completely necessary to pay more attention to the obstacle at first than the target? Because I like the idea of direct approaches.

If I were to see a 2 set right now, this is what my possible strategy would be:

1. Open with "I saw you girls and thought you were cute, and I just had to meet you" and maybe admit that I'm nervous.

2. Try to talk to both of them equally, just depending on how talkative each of them is.

3. There's two different ways of closing that I'm considering here..

-First option: Keep them together and say "You're both really interesting, but for the sake of being monogamous, there's really just something about [target] that interests me."

-Second option: ask the obstacle if I can borrow the target for a moment.

4. Number close target



So my question is mainly about #3. Is the first or second option better? And I assume if they refuse to separate, they're not that interested, and leave?
