I meet a girl at the gym on Wednesday while we were sitting in the steam room. We had like 5 min talk, and we exchanged numbers. Called her on friday, and we meet a bar/lounge and we had few drinks each. Then we ordered the bill, and I reached for my wallet to pay. She told me she would like to share the bill instead, so I thought okay that is fine too. The waiter then said out of nowhere :" Sir, I think you should take the whole bill instead. If you are gentleman you should do that .." So I simply said: " Well, your job is not to decide who pay for bills here. Anyway, go get me a sprite and add that to the bill" .. I don't know it doesn't feel right that I did that.. How shall I react to those kind of situations? What would you do?

you can really do what ever you want, and since you chose to deflect onto him that works fine too

he was obviously a bit jealous of you or he wouldn't have said anything

when ever cornered and you can't think of what to say, just agree with the person then make what ever they suggested seem ridiculous or exagerated

example:

you're right a gentleman would do that, you can pay for her drink if you want, since you're obviously implying that I am not a gentleman

and I also find it is easier to relate from the person to myself instead of myself to the person (an example of myself to the person would be, ''IM NOT A GENTLEMAN'' or ''I AM A GENTLEMAN YOU HAVE GOT ME ALL WRONG'' relate to the person you are dealing with before yourself)

It just came out of my mouth like that! Didn't real plan to be rude or a dickhead.. but what goes around comes around yeah? The funny part is that after I told him that he paused for like a second or 2 , and then went to get me the sprite The girl I was with giggled and didn't take it as an insult or anything as she agreed too!
