I'm writing this because I'm coming to the conclusion that you need male friends to be a true player. All the great players I see always have a group of guys they are surrounded in. Is it not true?
So then how do you pick up guys?
It feels a little bit awkward walking up to a guy and asking him for his number, or calling random guys to hang out. But at the same time it might feel kinda gay and awkward but how else are you supposed to build a team of guy friends, or find a wingman??

That's a strange situation to be in! In any case, it's much easier to meet friends than it is to pick up women. Just talk to people and meet people. Game can be applied to everyone and every interaction you have with people. "Hi, I'm so-and-so," and smile. It's hard for people to not like you. If they don't say anything immediately, it's easy enough to just start talking about whatever. You'll know if they're disinterested. Just try to make conversation. Hell, if you're looking for guys to sarge with, just talk about the hot women around the bar or wherever you're at. It's a universally loved topic by men everywhere. And it's not gay to get a dude's number. You've gotta have friends, right? That's all getting a number says is "we're acquainted." It's doesn't mean you're gonna call him up and fuck his ass for a couple hours. Stop being so self-conscious.

Commonalities such as cars, sports, girls, video games, etc...

Sarge and merge sets. For example, go out, open a group of guys, tell them your gonna go get some girls. Go open girls, and merge them with the guys. Trust me on this, is a huge DHV to the girls when you open them and introduce them to guys you barely met. I actually had girls tell me that I am really social. It shows them that your social, and your not afraid to loose them.

I'm much better at picking up women then I am at getting guys phone numbers.
Well maybe because I dont really appraoch guys that much.
Sometimes when I'd be talking to a guy I guess I would give off the wrong vibe, and they automatically start to think of me as lower status even thought I'm good-looking, athletic and been into pick up for over 2 years now, I have trouble vibing with guys, I guess its all about practice really.
I'm at a point where Im better talking to girls and attracting girls then getting respect from other guys. And it feels strange because women always asume that Im a leader of men and I have so many friends.
If a guy that has no respect for me sees me picking up a woman he suddenly becomes very surprised, and at that point all I can tell him is "dude, piss off".

Take this as inoffensively as possible, but it sounds like you're being too closed to people. Normally men have no struggle with camaraderie. We generally have a lot in common with one another, and if not a lot, at least one thing: we like women.

Now what you are doing is showing your prowess and then telling them to get away. It's pretty arrogant of you to say, "I want you to like me for something other than what I'm good at. If you can't, then you're not good enough." That's stupid unless you've got some other qualities that people can latch onto. I mean, it sounds like you either are 1) highly unimpressive to the male gender as a whole or 2) are being a complete douche to other guys. I'm not making accusations, just trying to find out what the hell it is you're doing that makes people not want to be around you.

I find it very hard to believe that out of all of us guys, that no one wants to be your friend. Don't be too picky when you're choosing people to hang out with. I don't know what else to tell you.
