Before I found out about pickup, I had this "nice guys finish last" attitude. I was in high school, and every day I saw these buff, good-looking, football macho guys reeling in these beautiful women standing on their head. Beautiful women would be flocking to these guys, melting sexually in their presence.

Then I found out about PUAs. I read the books, watched the videos, and practicing these routines on women; for the first time in my life, actually talking comfortably to a woman. My bad attitude quickly faded into one that proves that nice guys have as much chance with women than these alpha male jocks do.

They have this show in Canada (don't know if they have it in the States) but its called "Keys to the VIP" where a panel of four judges (each representing a different aspect of a successful PUA) judges the Game of two guys in a club. They put these guys through interesting situations like getting a woman's number in under 3 minutes. The winner goes to some cool lounge with their friends to party with hot women.

Anyway, it was a marathon, and each and every one of these guys being judged were these good-looking, ripped to hell, alpha male guys , and every single set they opened, the women were attracted to them without them even saying a word. They got these women melting at their feet in seconds, and their Game wasn't even that great. Some of them really exerted the "alpha male" quality, and it didn't even look like they had any routines. They just went in there, winged it, and automatically came out with this brilliant shit. So, if their looks didn't lock them in, their oozing sexuality-fueled Game did. The show had this 'looks into their life' kind of deal where, before going out sarging, the guys would make this minute long video describing who they are and what their lives have been like. Each of these guys were what you would call "winners". Their walls would be lined with trophies, friends, and notches on their bedpost. One guy boasted having 15 women pass through his. What the hell? How do I become like this? How do I reel in 10+ women at such a young age?

It actually helped me just writing this down and getting it all out there, but I guess if somebody could explain to me what kind of mindset I should be having about who succeeds and doesn't succeed at pickup, I would really appreciate it.

TL;DR : Do buff, good-looking, aggressive, alpha male guys succeed more at picking up women than average-looking, moderately fit, normal guys?

How do I become an "alpha male"? What do I have to do to become a "winner"?

It's a mindset really. But it comes with success. Fake it until you make it as they say in the community.
How to be percieved an alpha considering you're going out alone as they do in Keys: swagger. None of the really great ones (josh the matador is the prime example) ever considers getting blown out. That calm dominating frame he uses in the third round as he simply steals a girl from another guy. That's both ballsy and alpha dominance.

If you rely on looks alone you'll never have a shot against guys like that. But you can try to outgame them with lines and routines. (If you can bring them in the correct way of course.)

And oh yeah: you can always work out until you've got their posture.
