When (if ever) are the following sort of comments appropriate?
From my understanding, all of them are "MAJOR AFC", which I personally don't agree on. Surely it's okay to be sweet and cute to a girl once in awhile...right?

- I've been looking forward to seeing you again
- Missing you
- I had a really good time
- It would be cool to see you more often
- You have a very unique style, and it suits you
- Your ass is aesthetically pleasing (just kidding, ignore this one)
etc etc...

Are these comments ever beneficial to your relationship with a girl?
This question includes girls you are exclusive with.

All of those were incredibly silly. The reason they sound silly is that they all sound so goddamn polite. To me, its not taboo to complement a girl, but if you try to do so in an extremely polite way to avoid making her feel uncomfortable or awkward. Chivalry is dead, it's been replaced by bold confidence. If you want the girl, you need bold confidence. I would rather tell a girl that last one about her ass than any of those other comments that sound half like flirting and half like how i talk to customers at work.

They all sound like you are extremely uncomfortable around the girl and concerned about how she will react to you, so its overly formal. If I wanna be nice, I'll tell a girl she is looking damn sexy tonight. You can't be afraid to say stuff that isn't that offensive to begin with.

Say what you want as long as she's behaving. A compliment should only be giving out when she's behaving how you like. If you compliment her while she's being bitchy your sucking up and she will lose attraction and behave that way more often.

Personally, I save the really sweet stuff for after ive already slept with them. And only if I see them as more than a one night lay

The only one I'd use is the one you said to ignore :p
Compliments ain't very useful to anyone, hot girls get it all the time.

Try telling someone to change something about themselves on their clothing. For example if she's wearing a hat tell her it doesn't look right, then move or tilt it a bit and say "perfect! you look a million dollars!"

Are you trying to be sweet or safe? Safe kills an established relationship as quick as it kills a PU. Of course relationships can plod on year after year once you've managed to kill whatever erotic-intellectual-emotional energy it had!

Having said that, it's fine to pay a compliment under certain circumstances, once you are pretty sure you are not going to be shit tested, once she knows you are not putting her on a pedestal (making her feel extremely strange), etc.

Then the simple rules are:

1) be as specific and non-generic as possible,
2) don't pass on a chance to be suggestive or openly sexual,
3) give it with style (enthusiasm, charm, whatever suits you)...

Examples:

NOT: Linda, your eyes are so beautiful.
BUT: You are rocking those shoes, they make you look major sexy.

NOT: I miss you.
BUT: I miss the way you taste when you're hot.

NOT: I had a really good time.
BUT: That was atomic--I'm doing it again next week, you want to come with?

Whatever--depends on your style, but if you are trying to give a real compliment, as opposed to a very minor neg., you've got to try harder.

Are you kidding?...
When is it "safe to give" compliments?!?! I don't think you understand the concept of a compliment. It's an expression of admiration. It's not given, it's earned. You can throw it out whenever you feel like it. The problem isn't in the giving; it's how easily you are impressed. If the girl has impressed you enough, you let her know. If all it takes to impress you is for some hot chick to batter her eyes at you, you're still in an AFC mindset. Even if you master the art of "compliment giving", you're still just an AFC who knows how give compliments. Girls like you for who you are, not your "skills". Pick up should focus on developing your character, not your "technique".

These are all perfectly fine things to say.... if you're a girl.

I'll give you a prime example of something tha happen with me last night.

I get a call around 11 from one of my FWB's and she's like " hey can i come over an hang with you tonight blah blah." I'm like "sure" and shes says "but can we not have sex tonight, I feel like that's all you want to do. It makes me feel like booty call sometimes." I jokingly say "fine ill buy two flights to the moon, since I'm not making you happy enough"(punish) she apologetically says " nooo I don't mean it like that. It's just.. Blah blah blah(girl bs)" so I say " alrite we don't [have to have sex] tonight(my choice)"

So she comes over an we're watching a movie that leads us into a convo about drugs. She say "I hate it when guys smoke weed" I reach for my phone an start fake texting. She says " what are you doing" I say " texting every drug dealer I know. Cuz if it's like that I'm gonna smoke tons of weed tonight :)" she laughs says " your so cute, I love being around you(good behavior)" I reply " nah but ever since I've been hanging with you I don't feel the need to smoke anymore. I don't even think about weed, I just think about you" Her face gets all red, she gives me the biggest kiss, looks in my eyes and says " can we go to your room now"

I think you know what happen after that ;)

Compliments don't make a girl interested in you. They tell a girl that you have interest in her. Too much interest in too soon and she gets scared away. the girl in Fuzes post had doubts about his interest in her and he told her how he felt. Because they already established a relationship she needed the validation. Girls you don't know don't need that from you because they don't exactly care what you think just yet

Complimenting a woman is never a problem, it's how you do it that could be a problem. Everything you do and every way you act programs an action in women. Think of it like training a dog. If you tell the dog to get the paper and slap it when it does, after awhile it more then likely won't get the paper, hell it might not even let you pet it. But if you reward it then it will be happy to get you the paper.

You can train people to do just about anything. If you want to compliment someone, know who and why you are complimenting them, don't worry about doing it and us it as a reward. Train a response to it as well. For example, I lean over and whisper "you're beautiful" in my girls ear, she gets week in the knees.

Also, chivalry is not dead it's just sexier then it was before.

Alright thanks for the responses guys.

And no the thing Is, I don't want to say any of these with the intention of being "safe", I'm a pretty bold person. It's just that I think a "cute and sweet" comment (When she's earned it) would make the girl blush.

I am confused about it though, maybe even more now than before :P From what I just read, its okay to give a girl a compliment provided its not generic and she has earned it...but is it alright to sometimes just be blatantly honest and say "fuck, I genuinely really enjoy hanging out with you" if thats how you feel at the time and she's being super perfect to you as well? or is this something guys just don't have the luxury of laying down onto the table?
Sometimes I wonder when the push pulling and acting only just the right percentage interested can lay off. Is that really what attraction has to be for it to be successful?
Either I've got the complete wrong idea, or attraction is a fuckload of work and you can't ever completely relax lol

Just as long as you are fun with it. It's all about the tone in which you say things. Try it on a girl and you will see. Pick up a girl and sit there and talk to her, say things with a sexual/playful undertone and she will respond in a positive way. Next week see her again, say things that are close to what you said before but seem sheepish, nervous and weird. She will respond in a negative way.

So if you were to say something like "Dude, I had an amazing time with you tonight!" or anything that was fun, animated and playful she will respond in a positive way.

hmmm
What if you a compliment seriously, but with a lot of confidence?
Like with lots of eye contact (even after you have said it) and a half smile (Say, after a date at the drive-in cinema before another kiss) say something like
"I've had a really good time tonight...we really know each other"

Because the way I see it, that is a borderline AFC compliment, but if youre saying it with full confidence wouldn't a girl perceive that as "omg, he's really sweet" in the right kinda way?

Again, compliments should reflect how you feel about the girl. "Generic" compliments are generic not because the girl has heard it before, but because if you say it too early, it just goes to show you're not much of a challenge. If you like a girl just based on her looks, you are automatically like every other guy out there. You shouldn't feel impressed enough by just a girl's look to compliment her. A real PUA has approached enough attractive women to not give a single shit about looks. There are good looking girls all over the place, and unlike your AFC, he's looking for something deeper. That conveys value. By not giving a compliment, you convey value.

I think another way of looking at it is establishing the right frame. You can say absolutely anything to a girl and get away with it, if you have the right frame. One of my go-to openers is "I noticed your astounding facial symmetry and think you are absolutely gorgeous and I have to meet you." I get away with this all the time because I'm not expecting anything in return. I say it because I think it's stupidly ridiculous. I think of pickup as trolling people in real life, and it's hilariousl. In the end, it's not about what you say, but how you say it.

Your frame is ultimately a reflection of your own attitude. If you want to have the right frame, you have to have the right attitude. Ask yourself, what is the purpose of a compliment? If you're trying to elicit approval from the girl, you come across as trying to take value (and typically people who take value have low value, so the compliment in this case is a DLV). If you give the compliment because you genuinely think the girl is special i.e. not expecting any response, then you are giving value (and people who give value are typically high value, so it's a DHV).

In my opinion, you do not need advice on how to give compliments, but an attitude adjustment. Go out and do more approaches until you realize that every girl is more or less very similar, and you become desensitized to good looks. Then you will start to want more from girls other than generic bullshit qualifications they throw at you. Eventually you will establish a screening frame, and a compliment becomes genuine.
