I relate it to poker and tells and false tells. The moment you can read your opponent, you own them at the poker table. But if you can't read them at all, or they give you false indications of weakness and strength, then you have no ability to predict what kind of cards they are holding. Women do this to try to preserve their power over men.
This was a really good analogy, but I find it hard to reverse the lead reader. When someone is in the lead, it's hard to catch up to them and even more so; taking the lead. I've been in so many situations where I thought I was the leader and then the girl managed to flip it so easily, yet I struggle to make the flip. I can only go in and establish dominance through game.
