I'm alright with reading IOIs with girls I just met, but it's difficult when it comes to girls I'm acquainted with because acquaintances are like half-friends, if you get me.

There are girls in my social circle who are more acquaintances than friends, but we've known each other all year and talk every so often... They exhibit some subtle IOIs to me but then act in ways that make it seem like they're not interested.

Example: whenever I catch eye contact with this one girl that hangs out with the people I do, she holds it and smiles at me. Every time. But when I kino, she doesn't return it. When I start a conversation, she doesn't seem very keen on continuing it if it stops.

Anyone have experience with this?

I guess you can just go and escalate, but on the other hand they are like half friends, u don't want to ruin a friendship due to fast escalating.
And if a girl doen't answer ur small steps like conversations or lite Kino, then it indeeds makes it a hard mission to do.
