| Hey all I'm new to the forum and PUA. I would describe myself as a SAAFC (slightly above average frustrated chump) with some good intuition and skills with women, but my game needs serious polishing.
I usually don't have too much trouble opening women, but when I do it's usually out of fear of reaching my main sticking point.. at a certain point of talking (mid-game?) I get nervous and just say "well it was nice meeting you" and walk away. I guess I either run out of things to say, prefer to be the leaver than the leavee, or maybe both.
This has happened two times in the past two days: I met this cute girl in the park - had a good opener (she had her map open near the Empire State Building and I pointed and told her it was right there *g*).. we started chatting and walking together (I made a joke about following her and told her I had to go that way too anyway).. but at one point she was walking so fast that I felt stupid following her. She was talking, although not making too much of an effort (she seemed shy), but not really trying to get rid of me. Me: "Well, I have to go that way, but it was nice meeting you!" Handshake. Exit, stage left.
Again today: HB7 on the subway, sitting behind me reading. I could see her start playing with her hair, potential IOI, so I figure what the hey, so I asked her for directions (actually needed them anyway). She was helpful, I asked her what she was reading, and we started fluffing. We even got off at the same stop, but when we got off she said I had to go the other way, so I just said goodbye and left. I could see she even looked back at me, like she didn't want me to go, but I bolted! Seeing her standing I realized, as I walked away, that she actually more like a 9, but by then it was too late. Wtf is wrong with me?
I want to learn from these experiences and not beat myself up about yet another lost opportunity. Has anyone have similar experience or advice? Should I learn some canned material (jokes, games, quizzes, etc) as a backup plan in case I run out of things to say? Or maybe my inner game is fubar-ed?
