But honestly, just don't make it awkward. If you have to, get them both out at the same time to hang and game them both. It'd be a sad day if you started dating the girl you're after and the friend turns out to be the better of the two, right?

On the other hand, you may be able to gain the friend's confidence and now you have a great little cheerleader to help your progress along with the target.

As for the name business, just apologize and ask her name again. Unless she's a complete bitch, you'll be able to play it off jokingly and it will be fine. Of course, if you forget again, you're an idiot and kind of a douche. lol
