All i can say is simeply don't care about it. So what if she rejected? enough phones around. And efen if she gives it? watch around, lost of number been given. Doesn't say anything! so nothing to feel awkward about!
And what i always try is to number-close(if i want to get the number)
Just tell her you going away soon and you liked talking to her. Maybe she knows how u can stay in contact. And ofc if it fails she probely so no thnx.. or what i had last time.. i don't know.. @ that point u just should be like, i give it another shotand start saying like: you got a phone? or you got FB, myspace ect? or you can just say goodbye, might do a kiss-close.. just because you can. She slaps you? so be it! Yet another story to tell!
Best tip is: just do it as much as you can. Probely ytou akwardness will pass.
