Have you ever tried Paintball? It's awesome. You have to try it out one time. The very first time you're there, the very first round, your heart is going pow-pow-pow *mimics heartbeat with hand* and the adrenaline pumps into your blood. You start perceiving the world in a completely different manner. Everything slows down and your mind is sharper than ever. It's crazy. I'm not an adrenaline junkie, but this game is something I enjoy playing every time. You should try it. It's a one-in-a-lifetime experience.
And that was part 1 of my Paintball routine. BTW, you should really try it once to see what I'm talking about. xD You can either use part 1 and then come back to the topic with part 2 or you can stack them on one another or, if you get a "yes" as answer (haven't gotten one so far), you can say something like "It's awesome, isn't it?" and then either stack or leave part 2 for later with "I'll tell you a crazy story the last time I was there later." and stack something else. Leaves them wanting more.
Here's part 2:
So the last time I was playing, my back-then girlfriend came along with us. It was her first time. We usually all play capture the flag, makes it more interesting. The key for the game is to push onward with your team and take territory quicker than the opposing team. The faster team has a huge advantage then.
So at one point in the middle of the second of third round, we were both behind different covers, about 20 feet from each other. I noticed her down there and she noticed me. She waved her hand for me to come down. But I couldn't do that. There were 2 or 3 guys just up the hill and they could see me. So far they didn't know I was here. If I slided down to her, I'd blow my own cover as well as hers. But on the other side, I couldn't bear to leave her down there alone. I could see that she was scared.
After a minute or two one of our guys further up got shot and was out. That was my chance. Despite everything I slided down to her. Man, was she glad to see me, she hugged me right away. So now we were behind the same obstacle. I was able to take down two guys from afar on the opposite hill and I decided that we should move on. I told her to cover me while I get to the next cover. When I told her to come over and that I would cover her, she first hesitated, but then finally did it. We did that a few times and soon we were close to the flag. I wasn't sure if the guys from earlier had seen us yet, but I wasn't going to risk getting shot down. I didn't care about myself but for her. Then I noticed two buddies on the other side. I silently signaled to them that there were two or three guys up the hill and one of them confirmed their location. So I gave them the signal to shut them down. And they did. There seemed to be no thread around us at that moment. It was the perfect moment to get their flag. But yet again, I couldn't leave my girlfriend just there, she was too afraid. So I waved over my two team buddies to get the flag, we would cover them. What we didn't know was that we actually already shot down their entire team.
Part 2 is not 100% true as I modified it for more DHV.
- The girl was not my girlfriend, she was just a friend with a small crush on me, but I wasn't into her.
- She wasn't THAT afraid.
- There weren't two buddies, there was just one.
- By the time I noticed that one buddy, he had already disposed of the guys on the hill.
- I don't know how many guys there were up on the hill, I think there was actually only one.
- I actually shot down 5 guys from the other hill. Their cover was open towards me and they couldn't see me that well. There were always 3-4 guys behind that cover so I made use of their weakness. I got two while I was still a bit up the hill and three more after I slided down to my friend.
So, anyway... This story covers all three important characteristics: female pre-selection (the back-then girlfriend), protector of loved ones (kind of the whole point to the story), leader of men (the buddies going for the flag). Feel free to edit it to suit your needs and adjust it if you like.
I left it a bit longer and uncut because it is a really interesting story that can draw them in really deep, especially if you add the one or another emotion about how you felt about the whole thing. They will feel as if they were there with you and you were protecting them.
And remember, your attitude and story telling skills will mostly affect their reaction, not the story itself.
