Earlier today I was thinking about those guys who know their stuff, but for whatever reason get away from going out for a while and then when they do finally get back out there they’re rusty.

Or those guys who know EVERYTHING, but have trouble going over, opening, and having a conversation. Or the guys who have a hard time coming up with material that keeps them in the moment.

So, this post is mostly for those guys, but I think anybody will find some value in this hilarious game.

Duck Hunt:

Required Materials:

A prize
Ability to have a conversation
Cell phone that can take photos
A desire to talk to several women


Back in the day, Nintendo had a game called Duck Hunt where you used a laser gun to shoot ducks flying across the screen. This is sort of like a live action version of that game only instead of a laser gun you’ll be using your cell phone.

Opener: “Hey guys, let’s see your best duck face.”

For whatever reason girls, especially girls out at the bar, think that making a duck face (pressing out her lips like a kiss so it makes her look like she has a duck’s bill) makes them look cool, tough, sexy, or any other number of things. More often than not it makes them look ridiculous, but it seems like almost EVERY girl has a duck face.

Follow up: Some girls will break out the duck face and you can take their picture and/or take a picture with them. However, most of the time all you’ll manage to do is make her curious, and confused. So, you explain to her how every girl has a duck face and you’re playing a game to capture the best duck face in the bar.

Then you say: “Come on let’s play. The best duck face tonight gets __________.” Then pull out your cell phone and get the picture. Remember to make a note with her name attached to the picture so you can find the winner again.

Now, you can play with a buddy or you can go into your first fun-loving set of girls and play teams—you and your girl vs. her two friends. This is good for when you’re rusty or you are thinking too much. It takes your focus off of her/women and puts it on a task with an outcome.

The Prize: Usually a good prize is a free drink, but if you’re playing teams the prize can be having the losing team has to do something embarrassing. Depending on how well you’re getting along a kiss can make a good prize.

Other: Feel free to number close so long as you keep in mind the flake percentage is going to be higher than normal. Works well with short set and gives you a reason to reopen sets later that will be curious to find out if they won.

Bonus Points: If you’re still too focused on “getting the close” or you have approach anxiety feel free to loosen things up by dressing up in goofy huntsman clothing.

Other Variations:

Frogger: It’s the same as Duck Hunt, but instead of getting her best duck face you’re getting her best frog face. This is another popular face a lot of girls make when they are trying to be sexy or show how goofy they can be. You’ll recognize the look when a girl poses with her tongue sticking out resembling a frog.

Pound Puppies: Similar to the two above, but this is her get out of trouble or I’m sad face. Also called sad puppy dog eyes named after the look dogs will give you when they want something like food from the dinner table.

Feel free to mix and match with multiple expressions in the same game. Okay, that’s it guys. Have fun!
