however... i NEVER take girls on a movie date if i havent at least kissed them yet.
you dont get to talk much, you cant stuff around...
all in all it just makes the escalating process take longer.
if you're locked in the movie date, that above routine sounds pretty good.
otherwise, tease her. try to get her to say something like "your so mean!" before the movie. then grab her hand and pull her into you, hug her and kiss her cheek. hold her for a tad longer, looking in her eyes and then let go. you'll know if the kiss is on or not.
