Me: Well my mom wanted to come, but I told her not to ..

Me: She is the on who keeps on asking questions about the movie...the entire time!

Reply with "Jeez, you're no fun", or something along those lines. If she says something witty or replies in a positive way, continue and ask her out again. If she agrees with you, or doesn't reply...move on or stop texting her and game her in person.
