Really like the 'do you text'... yeh? 'cool, whats your number?'... doesn't really give them a chance. My 2 cents; don't ask whether you can get her number - give her the phone etc (always keep control) and also with the instant date, rather than 'do you want to go for coffee?' make it seem like you're doing it and get her to tag along i.e. 'Im about to get a coffee, want to join?' - less pressure on her to make the decision.

A question, assuming you successfully number close a stranger (be it club or supermarket) do you reckon text or call for first contact??

I'm on the team that thinks a call may be a tad too intrusive at first, they may be busy or whatever and just screen the call.

The other team would say that not calling is weak.

Either way I havn't heard about a girl that didn't want to get a text but I've heard a couple that find it awkward having a verbal conversation over the phone as a second contact, even if they have been speaking to you in person before that, weird I know...

Obviously I'm slightly biased based on the above paragraph, but that is only my experience not a worlds worth of experience by any means.

Do what you feel. It's all a learning experience try both so you can get a feel for what works best for you.
