Opening a group directly?

How do you run a direct opener on a group during day game?
I've always thought you wanted to give the HB the least attention and the ugly girls the most attention.
Another problem, if you directly open the HB, her friends may go on defense and ruin your chances with the HB.
Can anyone, who has acually had successful day game approaches, help?
