1. Is it okay to walk with a girl after going direct or should you always stay in the same spot and lock her in? I'm in college and they are on their way to class so when I stop them they are on the move. I feel like I lose value by using a direct opener, chatting for 2 minutes, then saying, "Do you mind if I walk with you?"

2. We all know you should leave at a high pint. So should I stay as long as possible and push the interaction forward or should I eject soon? I don't want to stay too long and look like a loser who has nothing else to do but if I leave to soon it's like I was never there. How long should I stay? (How many minutes exactly?)

Oh... You wish Pickup was this black and white! ;)

There aren't many definites in PU; you're asking questions like there is a "perfect" answer. I'm afraid there aren't. The only real answer is to try everything and see what works for you.

I don't know about everyone else, but I haven't got a great memory for loads of PU material, so I have to learn a bit at a time and put it in to practice - that's when I learn stuff. You can only learn so much from a book.

If you feel uncomfortable in set.. this is a good thing - it means you're learning!

Sarge on.

Zanny is spot on about everything he said.

But, to dig a little deeper into your particular questions.....
First of all, if you're in college, there are MUCH better sets to approach than moving sets. If your college has benches or seats ANYWHERE (outside, in a lounge area, cafeteria, library, and the list goes on) you can approach seated sets. You have a much higher chance of doing well with a seated set, because you're not gonna just talk for a minute and then walk away or talk for a minute and then she has to get to class. You will be able to have a longer interaction and you'll learn more.
Now I'm not saying that you shouldn't do moving sets or anything like that, but I AM saying that especially while you're in the earlier learning stages, you shouldn't FOCUS on moving sets. There are much better sets out there.

And with moving sets, it's BEST to take the girl somewhere else (like go sit down at a bench or even just take her a few feet and lean up against the wall). The main idea is that you don't want to just stand in the middle of the pathway or hallway talking to her for too long cuz thats weird for both you and her.
HOWEVER, a lot of times this will not be possible with moving sets (which is one of the reasons you should focus more on seated sets right now). So, in reality there will be alot of times when you stop a moving set that you are just gonna have to get her number after a minute or two and leave.

So, basically: don't ask to walk with her. If she seems like she has a little bit of time, just move her to go sit down or at least move her off to the side and talk to her some more. If she has even more free time on her hands, then you can get some coffee or something to eat. (But don't say "Hey do you want to get some coffee?" Just simply say "Hey come with me while I get some coffee real quick." And then just start walking and keep talking). If she really does need to go somewhere then you just have to get a quick number and move on.

Don't overthink it. Any stupid excuse will work. I'll usually just be like "let's stand over here, theres too many people trying to get by" OR "let's sit over here, I dont feel like standing right now" and then take the lead.

But honestly dude, I hope u take my advice to heart about shifting your focus to seated sets or sets standing around. Moving sets are not the thing to focus your energy on while you're in the early learning stages...

Okay, I'll focus on seated sets.
